Once again I am amazed. I converse with people who consider themselves on fire Christians with knowledge of God (Yahweh) and yet they will not allow the Word of Elohim to speak for itself.
And then to talk with someone who will not consider the Word to be the final authority takes the cake. An evangelical that says that Jesus has raised him above the Written Word, and that "Committing to obey HIS WORD" in outward acts of obedience completely falls short of God's desire to fellowship with us in Christ through Faith."
If you read Hebrews 11, all these who were of faith, because they believed God and acted on it were really fools and lost because they had "outward acts of obedience." This is as crazy as Joe Biden saying we need to spend more money (we have run out of money) so that we don't go bankrupt! But in Truth, as the church goes, so does the nation. Without the real authority of the pure Truth of Scripture, we are left to lawless men to determine what is acceptable to a Holy God, instead of simply believing HIS Word. The result is the Truth is called a lie, and the lie is called the Truth.
What man continues to do is to add to and subtract from what is written in the Holy Scriptures. Because of this they've made up a gospel that is no gospel at all. AND they've made up a messiah that is not the Messiah foretold.
To each of these who continue to pull a verse out of Galatians or Colossians out of context, why do you bother if you aren't bound by the text. And even worse you say the Holy Spirit is not bound by the text of Holy Scripture, even when Yeshua said HE couldn't speak on his own! The context of the text is thrown out to make it fit a preconceived notion based on traditional thought - making it fit with the additions and subtractions to the Word.
Now these are the people who claim the good ole USA is a Christian nation, founded on the Judeo Christian faith. After taking a step back and looking at the history of the nation, the history of Christianity, and the history of Judaism, both secular history and Bible history, you are in fact RIGHT! But I'm not interested in the shared lawlessness of Judeo Christians. Both parties unite in their understanding that they are sons of Abraham. And to compound the problem even more the Muslim fall into this category as well.
Just a couple of months back our president, elected by many to be their savior, Obama made a speech in Cairo, heralded by many as brilliant. In this speech Obama set the stage for the final scenario of the end time prophecies.
In the end there will be a central figure who will build a consensus among the vast majority in the world. He is called the anti-Christ and the lawless one in Scripture. The one thing that unites the three largest religious perspectives in the world today is their claims of being sons of Abraham. But are they? What does Scripture say about being a son of Abraham?
There is a difference between physical descent and being of the Seed. Both the Israelite and the Muslim can boast Abraham in their physical lineage. But does that make them a true son of Abraham, Biblically?
The professing Christian says that he or she is the son/daughter of Abraham spiritually, because of their faith. They claim to be justified by faith like believing Abraham. But are they sons of Abraham Biblically.
You see, it is not what you call yourself, based on your own criteria, that makes you what you profess. What I mean is this; you may call yourself a son, but the test is does your definition fit what was foretold by the Bible? This is extremely important because those who are interested in this; all parties believe they are following the true God of the Bible.
In John Chapter Eight Yeshua spoke to those who said they were sons of Abraham. They told them they didn't need HIM to set them free because they were already free, as sons of Abraham. Yeshua told them that HE knew they were Abraham's descendants but yet they weren't interested in HIS Word. Yeshua said, "I speak what I have seen from MY Father and you do what you have seen with your father." To which they responded, "Abraham is our father." Yeshua answered them, "If your Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham." HE tells them they were wanting to HIM because HE was telling them the Truth and that Abraham, the one they claimed to be their father, didn't do that." They then try to elevate the argument, saying, "...we have one Father - God." HE then tells them if they were sons of the Father they would hear HIS Word. HE asks them, Why do you not understand MY speech? and HE tells them why, "Because you are not able to listen to MY Word. You are of your father the devil." He calls their father, the devil, the liar and the father of liars.
These liars were in opposition to the Truth standing in front of them. They were in opposition to the True Elohim, in bodily form, speaking Truth to them. Their claim as sons was invalidated by their actions. They drew near HIM with their lips, calling themselves "sons of Abraham/sons of God," but their hearts were far from HIM, as evidenced by their works. It's why Yeshua said if they were Abraham's sons they would "do the works of Abraham." Abraham's belief was in what Yahweh, and Yeshua, and the Holy Spirit (They are ONE) said, and he acted on it; his belief resulted in outward obedience. In short, he believed the Word and did what it said, proving he was a son of Elohim.
The professing Christian today will sing the old song, "Father Abraham, has many sons, many sons has father Abraham. I am one of them, and so are you, so let's just praise the Lord." What's wrong with that. Well nothing, if all parties are truly a son or daughter of Abraham. The sad part is the profession of being a son of Abraham but having actions that prove otherwise. But in a shared profession, none have the works of Abraham, a consensus of unity is built that is lawless. But what of the professing evangelical?
Yeshua is having this conversation with those who say they are sons of Abraham/sons of the Living God today - the professing Christian and the professing Messianic Judaic believer. Where are your works to prove you are a son of Abraham. HE knows your heart and doesn't need proof. But this is, in reality, so you and I know if we're sons. We must examine our faith/works to see if it fits what Elohim said, and not what man has said. Those Israelites Yeshua was talking to believed man and based their sonship on what man said. But Yeshua said they were not sons. HE, being God/Elohim, knew they were not sons. They were arguing with God that they were HIS son, while HE is saying, no you're not! The same with the professing Christian; where are your works in keeping with what the Holy Scriptures say?
It is not enough to say to yourself and anyone who will listen, "Hey, I'm a Christian who is a son of Abraham, a son of the Living God, and a Bible believing Christian at that. I walk by the Truth of the Word." What if you came to Yeshua in the end, when all must stand before HIM and say those things? Could it be the scenario that Yeshua speaks of in Matthew Seven?
In Matthew Seven Yeshua tells those who say, "LORD, LORD," have we not done all these great things in Your name, casting out demons, prophesied, and done many wonders? And then HIS answer to them, "I never knew you; depart from ME you who practice lawlessness."
Yes, lawlessness! You might say that Abraham didn't have the Torah, it only came at Sinai, 430 years after Abraham. But Genesis 26 tells us that Abraham obeyed Torah. How does that work into your equation?
In John Five Yeshua is talking to the same people as they oppose HIM. The problem, as always, is they refuse to hear HIM. They accuse HIM of breaking Torah falsely. Their criteria - what the rabbis have said. Yeshua is saying, don't listen to your rabbi's word, listen to MY Voice. That's HIS point in Matthew Five, when HE says, "You've heard it said, but I say to you..." HE is saying, you've heard what your rabbis say, but listen to ME, they have it wrong. I said it originally." HE was pointing them back to HIS Word - Torah. Back in John Five Yeshua makes it clear that HE and the Father are One, speaking in unison and unity. It is the timeless message of Torah - the divine, loving instruction of a benevolent, yet just Creator. Yeshua is the Creator. See Colossians 1, John 1, Hebrews 11, and other places. HE is the LIVING WORD. The worlds were founded on HIS Word. HE is the WORD. If you reject the Word you cannot be a son!
In Matthew Five Yeshua says the Father testifies of HIM. HE says HIS works, given HIM by HIS Father, bear witness of HIM. How can they bear witness if one doesn't know what those works are to look like? By what criteria can HE be judged to be who HE says HE is? Only by what is written. HE tells them, "You have neither heard HIS Voice at any time, nor seen HIS form. But you do not have HIS Word abiding in you (HE wants it on their hearts - Torah says so), because whom HE sent you do not believe. You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have life, but these are they which testify of ME."
Now think about this for a moment. Yeshua says, these Holy Scriptures, the Tenakh - Genesis to Malachi, testify of HIM. In order to accept HIM as the ONE sent by the Father one has to believe what is written of HIM. The foundation for Messiah is laid, beginning in Genesis and continuing throughout the Tenakh. Specifically the first five books of Moses. These are the Scriptures that preached the Gospel to Abraham, according to Paul. This is the Word of the LORD that didn't prophet the ones at Sinai, according to the writer of Hebrews, because they didn't mix it with faith - they didn't believe it therefore they didn't obey HIM. Read 1st 10. Because of this their bodies were strewn all over the wilderness. Belief means obedience. Outward obedience proves sonship. It proved Yeshua's sonship. We are to walk as Yeshua, according 1 John 2, thereby proving our sonship. The Creator knows our heart. But we struggle with knowing our heart. We want to think the best and if we can construct our own criteria, fitting our own agenda, we can deceive ourselves, and deceive others. But when we look into the perfect Torah of Liberty, we look in the mirror. It reflects who we really are in the Light of Truth - Torah. We can judge ourselves to see if we fit - to see if our outward walk fits with the Word that testifies of the ONE we say is our LORD and the ONE we say we are being changed into the very image of.
So here is the kicker. Pay close attention to what Yeshua says. These men professed to believe Moses! They searched the Scriptures, qualified here as Moses' writings! But yet they didn't recognize the ONE Moses prophesied would come. Why? They didn't recognize or hear HIM because of their additions and subtraction given them by man throughout the generations. The prophecy from Moses was that a Prophet would be raised up like him, taken from among his people, who would speak the same message. The qualifier is that this Prophet, and any prophet, who would presume to speak in the authority of Yahweh, would speak only the same message of living according to the commandments of Yahweh. If any prophet comes speaking any other message, don't hear him. But Yeshua, speaking through Moses, said of this Prophet to come, "hear HIM." And the way you will know HE is the True Prophet is that HIS Words will be the same. They did not believe Moses!
They chose to follow the additions and subtractions, the word of man mixed with the Torah of Yeshua, instead of the Torah of Yeshua. Had they believed Moses, who spoke the Word of Yeshua, and wrote the Word of Yeshua, they would have known the Father and would have received HIS Son as Messiah and the True Prophet when HE came. But they could not hear HIM because the Word was not in their heart. For the Word to be in your heart you have to choose to believe the Word. This is not some ethereal word, as evidenced by Yeshua's Words in John Five. This Word that testifies of HIS Sonship is the Written Word of the Holy Scriptures. HE is the firstborn of many sons. The same Scripture will testify of our sonship, if we believe Moses, just as Yeshua said.
In closing John Five, Yeshua asks, "But if you do not believe HIS (Moses') writings how will you believe MY Words?"
HE is still asking this question to me and you. Do you believe Moses' writings? Do you add to Moses' writings? Do you take away from Moses' writings? Do you believe a mixture of Moses' writings, yet you subtract those parts you don't like, or add to portions to make it fit what you want to do? This is what man has done throughout time. It caused them to not recognize the Messiah when HE came 2000 years ago. It caused them to not hear HIM at Sinai. It caused the fall in the garden. Disobedience to HIS Word is lawlessness. HIS Word is Law - Torah, and it results in death, and it proves we are not sons of the LIVING ELOHIM.
Professing Christian, are you resting in the word of man, church fathers, commentators, your pastor, family and friends who reject the testimony of Yeshua? Messianic Judaism, are you resting int he word of man, rabbis, sages, Talmud, Mishna, mysticism? If you are then you are distorting the specific testimony of who the Messiah is and the one you profess to be a son of is not the Son of Elohim.
When you believe the lie you are a son of the liar, the devil, and you have rejected the Truth, the Son of Elohim. There is not middle ground. A little leaven leavens the whole lump, says Paul. A little added here, a little taken away there, and you have a leavened Torah - no longer the pure Word of Faith. You faith is not in the lie.
Revelation 22 says that those who love and practice the lie will be on the outside with murderers and dogs, but those who have the right to eat of the Tree of Life are those who obey HIS commandments. It is those commandments that testify of HIM. It is only through keeping HIS commandments, without the intrusion of the additions and subtraction of men, that we can know HIM. And by HIS own statement in Matthew Seven, HE knows us by our keeping HIS commandments, HIS Torah. Of those who practice the lawlessness of additions and subtractions, even though they profess HIM to be their Lord, HE says, "Depart from ME, you who practice lawlessness."
If you are a son of Abraham you will do the works of Abraham and it will be seen outwardly. If you are resting in the lies of man that are added to Torah, and in those lies that subtract from Torah, you are believing the devil, and by Yeshua's own Word, you are proving yourself to be a son of the devil.
The testimony, as it is called in Torah, testifies of Yeshua, proving HIS sonship. Peter tells us that Yeshua is the ONE who spoke through the prophets concerning HIMSELF. HE is the one who spoke through MOSES concerning HIMSELF as the Prophet to come. If we believe Moses we will know HIM and hear HIM. Do your believe Moses? Which voice are you listening to?

Amen to that! I think of all your posts (all of which I greatly enjoy) I love this one the most. We just had a few visitors to our congregation yesterday who are amazed at the things we are learning and sharing. Even though they have come from a congregation that meets on the Sabbath and keeps the Feast days (allegedly, as I am coming to find out), yet their pastor has made the same mistakes as our brothers in church in subtracting from the scriptures and adding his own law.
I would like to print your post and share it with my family. You have stated the things that we have been talking about. Thank you for your witness.
Bless Yahweh, HIS message is timely. Thank you for your encouraging words. Feel free to pass anything you read on here along to anyone. Also visit http://messiahfellowshiponline.com and find video teaching by Ron Hyre and myself as well as other articles by me, Ron and some other brothers.
Please link to this site on in social network sites like Facebook, MySpace, etc and help get more people to the site to expose them to the important message that Yahweh is bringing as we near the end of days.
Bless you Bjay.
Brother Banner,
It amazes me how simple it is just to trust in the authority of the plain meaning of the scriptures... until, the plain meaning is too complicated for our lives...
I find myself walking alone (or at least feeling that way) when it comes to this simple truth.
A brother at my fellowship made a statement to me recently that "I know what the scriptures say... But I've got go by the 'spirit' on this one..." ????????????????
I'm confused... If the "Spirit" you claim to follow leads you contrary to the written word, then is it the "Spirit of Truth"?
I also am amused at the "Youtube Preachers" who become so ANGRY at all the false doctrine out there, and yet they are off on many of their interpretations of scripture.
I have resolved to simply stand, and allow the Torah to be the basis of my faith in YHWH which always points me to Yeshua who always teaches Torah as the basis for our faith in YHWH...
There is one Elohim, on Trusting, and one emersion... everything else is our attempt to contort scripture to fit our beliefs.
Men love this world, they love it's systems, and standards, and provisions... They only pay lip service to YHWH and His Son Yeshua... This is the true breaking of the 3rd Mitsvah...
I love you brother... keep up the sound words of life.
Shalom
Bless you brother. Thanks for your words of encouragement. It can seem pretty lonely at times, but Yah has reserved for HIMSELF, those who have not bowed the knee to Baal. We are not alone. Where are you located, geographically? If you ever have an opportunity, come visit us in Indiana. I'm praying about opportunities to come speak at other gatherings as well as outreach opportunities spreading the whole gospel of Torah. Let me know if you know of any opportunities. May Yah richly bless you as you choose to follow HIM according to HIS Word.
A note to those who wonder why I use Yah and Yahweh, instead of God, or Yeshua instead of Jesus. They are Biblical names of the Godhead (Elohim).
Brother Banner,
We are in Iowa, LA Just outside of Lake Charles...
We would love for you to come and break bread with us as well.
I can promiss this, if YHWH lays it on your heart to come down this way... You'll have provision for you your family and other brethren for food, and lodging. We'll have to believe in faith for the travel expenses. But, I'm sure YHWH Yireh.
Consider this Your open invitation.
I will lift this in prayer before Yeshua. Thank you Marlon.
Wonderful post brother Banner. I wrote an open letter to many that I used to fellowship with stating many of the same points.
Bro BJ - As I've come to find out here in NY - there are a fair amount of Sabbath keepers - but they still don't desire to keep the whole Torah (well as much as relates to us and is possible to keep outside of Israel and the tabernacle/temple). I face the same frustrations - and that is why I'm currently not in a structured congregation. Why go half-way?
Brother Marlon - I faced the same "argument" with believers I used to fellowship with - who always talked about "being led by the Spirit" even when it was contrary to what God's Word says. God is not the author of confusion - and likes things "decently and in order" as Paul told the Corinthians. He gave us His Word - as Peter describes "everything pertaining to life and godliness" - and as stated numerous times by the prophets and Yeshua - the "job" of the Holy Spirit is to bring us back to His Word - His Truth in all things.
Thank you to all you brothers for your encouragement. I pray that others who visit here will have ears to hear the Truth and be set free from the bondage they don't even know or are willing to admit they're in.
